Plaques of Honor is a deeply meaningful non-profit initiative founded by Doug Pickel and Calvin Murphy to pay tribute to the families of the fallen, Prisoners of War, and those Missing in Action. Commemorating the sacrifices of over 700 heroes, each plaque is an extraordinary creation, meticulously crafted over 60 hours and finished with 25 coats of guitar lacquer. The use of maple and Peruvian walnut symbolizes the enduring strength and profound challenges these families have faced. Every plaque stands as a lasting tribute to their courage, memory, and resilience. Since 2023, with the support of Rolling Thunder Michigan Chapter 4, and Chapter 3 of the Forgotten Eagles of Michigan, Plaques of Honor has held an annual ceremony at the Michigan Vietnam War Memorial in Island Park, Mt. Pleasant, Michigan.
